Is Coco Peat Good for Plants
Coconut peat is the fiber powder after processing and crushing the coconut shell. It has the characteristics of air permeability and good water retention, which can slow down the loss of water and moisturize the soil. Perlite, cinder and other materials with good water permeability can be added during use.
Most flowers and plants can use coconut peat as a medium, but some flowers cannot be cultivated with coconut peat soil, such as longevity flowers, succulents, crab claws, rich trees, etc., because coconut peat soil is made from coconut shells. The organic medium made after crushing has very good water retention capacity, but it is not suitable for some large green plants and succulent plants to be planted with coconut peat soil.
Succulents are afraid of humidity and do not have a high demand for water, but coconut peat soil has a very good water retention capacity. Especially after watering the succulents in summer, due to the water retention of coconut peat, the succulents are prone to problems such as root rot and dehydration in high temperature and high humidity environments.
Kalanchoe is resistant to drought and grows fast, while coconut peat will slow down the decomposition rate of fertilizers, which can prolong the growth cycle of Kalanchoe.
