Ornamental Pineapple Planting

1. Variety selection
Large-scale soilless cultivation of ornamental pineapples is mainly propagated by tissue culture. We need to choose varieties with no disease, good plant type and good growth. We can purchase tissue cultured plant with five true leaves and neat growth according to market demand, cultivation environment and other factors.
2. Planting Media
When pineapple grows, the roots need a lot of air, so it is necessary to use the planting media with good air permeability, water retention, drainage, and good chemical stability, such as coconut peat, volcanic rock, vermiculite, ceramsite, perlite, rock wool, peat soil, etc. . They need to be sterilized before use.

3. Transplanting

4. Change basin
Repotting is required after three to four months of planting. When changing the pot, water it thoroughly one day in advance, and water it again after changing, and fertilize it one month later.
5. Temperature
At the seedling stage of ornamental pineapple, the temperature is generally controlled at about 20 to 30 degrees, and the temperature can be appropriately lowered to 18 to 28 degrees after three months. The temperature difference between day and night should not be too large in the early stage, and the temperature difference can be appropriately increased in the later stage. The lowest temperature in winter should not be lower than 10 degrees. If necessary, use heating equipment to heat the greenhouse and keep the temperature above 10 degrees.
6. Humidity
Pineapple generally grows in tropical rainforest areas and likes high temperature and humidity. The suitable air humidity for soilless cultivation is between 60% and 80%. Excessive humidity can easily cause diseases. The humidity during the seedling stage is controlled between 70 and 80, and it can be controlled between 60 and 80 as the growth progresses. During the growth process, pay attention to maintaining ventilation to reduce the chance of pests and diseases.
Precautions
Ornamental pineapple growth environment: Keep warm above 12°C in winter, and can accept direct sunlight. Don’t forget the sun exposure in summer! In order to prolong the flowering period, it is necessary to ensure that the maintenance conditions are optimized: sufficient light, suitable water supply, warm and ventilated.
