1. Seed treatment

Before soilless seeding of cucumber, the seeds should also be treated. Generally, the method of treatment is to scald the seeds in warm water, with the water temperature of 55-65 ℃. After 10-15 minutes, add cold water to keep the water temperature at about 30 ℃. Soak the seeds for 5 to 8 hours and then remove them out. Finally, wrap the seeds with cotton cloth and place them at a suitable temperature for germination.

2. Seeding and seedlings

After the cucumber seeds germinate, they can be put into the soilless substrate for seedlings, and 1 or 2 seeds can be put into each acupoint, and then moistened with clean water.

Our Tenlead Plant Growing Cube is a growing medium made from phenolic foam. It provides a high quality, sterile and inert root growing environment. Hydroponic growing cube provides from 90%-98% air space in between its fibers while still giving excellent support for the plant.

The hydroponic growth cube is sterile and inorganic. Because it does not contain any organic matter, it helps to protect the root zone from harmful microorganisms.

What most important is that it is biodegradable and will completely degrade after a period of time without polluting the environment. Conversely, some products that cannot be decomposed, such as rock wool, will take you a lot of time and cost to handle after planting. We firmly believe that it will be more valuable and expand its market in the future nursery garden work.

3.Transplanting

Before colonization, be sure to prepare the planting trough and nutrient solution, and pay attention to check whether the nutrient can be transported normally. When the cucumber seedlings have grown three or four real leaves, carefully remove the them from the tray together and transplant them into the planting trough. Remember to water once after transplanting.

4. Seedling management

The concentration of nutrient solution is very critical to the management of seedlings, because them grow faster, and are easy to age. After planting, 400-500ml of nutrient should be poured every day. At the development stage, about 2000-2500 ml of water should be watered every day. After the development of cucumber seedlings, the concentration can be appropriately reduced. And the temperature should be about 15 to 25 degrees. When the cucumber plant grows to 15-20cm, the it is necessary to install a bracket in the greenhouse and let the cucumber seedlings grow along it.

5. Disease and pest control

Aphid, powdery, downy mildew, whitefly, etc. are the most common diseases and pests in soilless cucumber culture.  Downy mildew is generally controlled by prick, while powdery mildew is controlled by triadimefon. Insect pests are treated with professional anti insect agents. In addition, you should remember to remove the dead and yellow leaves in time.
