To start the process, you'll need cucumber seeds and hydroponic planting cubes. Here's how to do it:
1. Preparing the Seeds: Soak the cucumber seeds overnight in water to soften up the outer coating, which will help them sprout faster. Make sure to discard any floating seeds as they are usually not viable.
2. Planting the Seeds: Place the planting cubes in a clean tray. Then place one cucumber seed in the hole on the top of cubes. Add water until they are fully saturated.
3. Ensuring Proper Conditions: Cover the tray with a lid to keep the humidity high. Keep the tray in a warm and bright spot with a temperature of around 70℉ for optimal growth.
4. Nutrient Solution: After two to three days, remove the lid and start adding nutrient solution to the tray. The nutrient solution should be added to the tray following the instructions provided by your hydroponic system provider. Make sure that the nutrient solution is at the correct pH level (between 5.5-6.5) and at a suitable strength (EC between 1.2-1.8 mS/cm).
5. Continued Care: Continue to monitor the seedlings' growth and maintain the appropriate nutrient and pH levels in the solution. When the seedlings have grown to about 2-3 inches, transplant them into your hydroponic system.
