1. Water Quality

    The water quality of soilless cultivation is closely related to the configuration of nutrient solution. The main indicators of water quality are electrical conductivity (EC), PH value and whether the content of harmful substances exceeds the standard.

   EC is an indicator of the salt concentration in a solution. Various crops have different salt tolerance, such as sugar beet, spinach, and cabbage with strong salt tolerance. Moderate salt tolerance such as cucumbers, beans, bell peppers, etc.

    Soilless cultivation has strict requirements on water quality, because it does not have buffer capacity like soil cultivation, so the content of many elements is lower than the allowable concentration standard of soil cultivation, otherwise plants will be easily poisoned.Some farmland water is not necessarily suitable for soilless cultivation. It is a good way to collect rainwater for soilless cultivation. The PH value of the water should not be too high or too low, because generally the crops have the best requirement for the PH of the nutrient solution to be neutral.     Nutrient solution is the key to soilless cultivation, and different crops require different nutrient solution formulations. There are many formulas published in the world, but they are similar, because the original formula comes from the chemical composition analysis of the soil extract.
