Liquid Supply System for Soilless Cultivation

    There are many ways to supply liquid in soilless culture, including Nutrient Film Technique (NFT), flood irrigation method, drip irrigation system, siphon method, spray method and artificial watering. In summary, it can be divided into two categories: circulating water (closed circuit system) and non-circulating water (open circuit system). Now NFT and drip irrigation are widely used in production.

1.NFT

    1) Prepare 3 mother solution storage tanks (tanks). One contains calcium nitrate mother liquor, one contains mother liquor containing other nutrients, and the other contains phosphoric acid or nitric acid to adjust the pH value of the nutrient solution.

    2) Reservoir. Store the diluted nutrient solution, use a pump to send the liquid inside from the high end of the cultivation bed, and then return it from the low end. The size of the liquid tank is related to the cultivation area. Generally, 1000 square meters require a liquid storage tank with a capacity of 4 to 5 tons. Another effect of the liquid storage tank is exactly to reclaim the soilless culture nutrient solution that flows back by the return line.

    3) Filter device. Filters are required to be installed at the water inlet and outlet of the nutrient solution to ensure that the nutrient solution is clean and will not cause blockage of the liquid supply system.

 

 

2.Drip Irrigation

    1) Prepare two concentrated nutrient solution tanks to store the mother solution. One tank contains elemental calcium and the other contains other elements without calcium.

    2) Concentrated acid tank. Used to adjust the pH value of the nutrient solution.

    3) Reservoir. Used to hold diluted nutrient solution.

    4) Dripper. The liquid supply device fixed near the rhizosphere of the crop.

3.Disinfection of Planting Medium

    After a long period of using, the planting medium will accumulate pathogenic bacteria and insect eggs, especially under continuous cropping obstacle, it is more prone to pests and diseases. Therefore, after each crop is harvested, the soilless culture substrate must be disinfected before the next use.

    The planting cubes do not contain any chemicals, allowing plants to grow healthier. Unlike soil, cubes do not block any nutrients. All elements in the nutrient solution can be used in plants, i.e. there is no soil interference. It is also effective in eliminating fungi and diseases common to young plants.
