How to make a good aquaponics system
Aquaponics is equivalent to a small ecosystem that can produce sustainable food at any time and place, with a lot of potential for development. At present, although aquaponics technology has just emerged in China, European and American countries have already had rich experience. Whether it is scientific research or home-based aquaponics systems, it has been successful in many common vegetables, flowers and other plants, and has successfully raised ornamental and edible fish, such as carp and crucian carp.
In general, we have the following basic principles to consider when carrying out the cultivation of aquaponics systems.
1. Aquaculture pond. Aquaculture pond is one of the two main components of aquaponics systems. It is generally transformed from environment-friendly plastic box, as long as it can ensure water storage and good and convenient cleanliness. Of course, it can also be built with cement.
2.Circulating water system. In order to do well in the ecological cycle, water circulation and abundant oxygen are essential. Therefore, we need to prepare water pumps and air pumps to provide nutrient rich water flow for plants and clean water and sufficient oxygen for aquatic animals. Generally speaking, it is best to keep the PH value of the water between 6 and 7, and the temperature between 20 and 30 degrees.
3. Stocking density. In order to ensure the stable and continuous operation of the system, it is recommended that the stocking density of fish be controlled at 10 kg fish per 100 kg water, which can also provide sufficient nutrients for cultivated plants.
4. Plants. Mainly green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers and other fruit vegetables are also better. Moreover, the cultivation density should match aquaculture, that is, 14 square meters of plants can be planted in 1 cubic meter of water.
5.Water circulation must be ensured. It is better to control the time of rising tide and ebbing tide in the plant growing medium to circulate once every half an hour, so as to facilitate the survival and reproduction of nitrifying bacteria.
The aquaponics system has great potential and development space. The combination of fish and shrimp aquaculture and soilless cultivation of leafy greens allows you to raise non-toxic fish and organic vegetables at home, which is also a clean, environment-friendly and healthy lifestyle.
