How to Repair the Greenhouse Film

The greenhouse film is easily damaged during their using and storage , and by repairing, we can extend its life. So how to fix it? Today we will tell you some commonly used repair methods: for damaged films in use, we can use temporary repair methods; for films being dismantled, we should adopt permanent repair methods.

Temporary Fix

1. Replenishment with water. This method requires us to clean the damaged area, cut a piece of film slightly larger than this area, dip it in water and paste it on the hole, drain the air between the two films, and press it flat.

2. Supplement with paper. If the film is slightly damaged, we dip a piece of paper in water and paste it on the damaged part. Generally, it can be worked for about 10 days.

3. Paste filling. Add water to white flour to make a paste, then add brown sugar equivalent to 1/3 of the weight of dry flour, and heat it a little to make up the film.

Permanent Repair

1. The sewing method. This method is suitable for thicker films. When it is damaged, it can be covered with a film of the same texture and connected them with a thin thread.

2. Heat supplement. Wash the damaged area, cover the hole with a slightly larger film. Then cover it with 2 to 3 layers of newspaper and gently iron along the joint with an electric iron. The two films will be melted by heat, then after cooling, they will stick together.

3. Glue repair. Clean the surrounding area of the hole, apply it with a brush dipped in special glue (or other adhesives), after 3-5 minutes, take a piece of film with the same texture and stick it on it, and waiting for the glue to dry.

Among the permanent repair methods, the heat repair and the glue repair have good effects. In the sewing method, the film will not only leak air, but also be easily pulled apart, which is not effective for films that are not thicker.
